Destination Play: BDI Play Designs Arrives at Rochester Park, Coquitlam
Discover how BDI Play Designs brought the high-climbing SteelCore DreamWeaver™ and nature-inspired StoneWood log elements to Coquitlam’s iconic Rochester Park, marking a milestone in our precision shipping and West Coast expansion.
If you live in the Tri-Cities, you likely already know that Rochester Park is one of the crown jewels of Coquitlam’s park system. With its multi-level design, iconic spray park, and stunning views of the Fraser River, it’s a destination for families across the Lower Mainland.
At BDI Play Designs, we were thrilled to contribute several key features to this landmark site, including one of our most popular high-climbing architectural pieces: the SteelCore DreamWeaver™.
Bringing the DreamWeaver to the West Coast
While BDI is proudly rooted in Alberta, our proprietary product lines are making waves across North America. The Rochester Park project was a milestone for us — it was our first time shipping a DreamWeaver net climber to the West Coast.
Shipping large-scale steel and rope structures requires precision. This project helped us to refine our packaging and shipping processes, ensuring the DreamWeaver arrived in Coquitlam in pristine condition. Today, those same improved logistics mean we can deliver our heavy-duty equipment to any corner of the continent.
Nature-Inspired Play in a Modern Layout
Rochester Park is famous for its "nature play" theme. Complementing the existing log structures and the surrounding forest, we provided elements from our StoneWood Collection:
StoneWood Log Balance Beams: These offer the rustic look of real timber with the extreme durability of glass-fiber reinforced concrete.
StoneWood Log Steppers: Strategically placed to challenge a child’s balance and coordination while blending seamlessly into the layout.
The DreamWeaver stands alongside other high-intensity equipment like the Blue Imp Triple Peak Net climber and Monkey Boards, creating a "climbing paradise" for kids aged 5-12.
Why Coquitlam Chooses BDI Products
While Rochester Park features a variety of equipment from different manufacturers, BDI Play Designs is increasingly becoming an attractive choice BC developers look to for unique feature pieces at a reasonable price. Our StoneWood and SteelCore lines are designed to be impressive free-standing pieces, but can be functionally linked to create fun, interconencted layouts. This allows landscape architects to "link" different play experiences — like a balance beam leading into a net climber — creating a continuous flow of movement that keeps kids engaged longer.
